We generally choose to talk to a specialist when we are already on the edge, with no strength left, and no direction to follow. And what we actually look for then is a saving swim belt simply to hang on to and take us where that might be … as long as we are over with it … and, if possible, let nobody know we went to a specialist. What would people say? That we are weak, that we cannot handle it or even worse, we may be sick … We all need personal development, on one condition, to want that! In the United States personal development is a subject listed in the kindergarten curricula and is continued for a lifetime regardless of the area of life you are in. It is a mere status quo. I am glad to see that, in Romania, people are more and more keen on personal development and that, step by step, the mentality so far, i.e. “I am self-sufficient, I am ok” turns into “Let’s see what else I could do for me and how I can improve what I already do”. It is very easy to draw the curtain and push everything underneath the mat. Sooner or later though, when there is no more room under the mat, we get stuck. If “I am ok” were related to self-confidence rather than to pride, we would definitely be happy to envy. Question is: Are we? Consequently, a personal development specialist – counsellor or coach – could help me when: I need more self-confidence when in contact with my workmate, with the client...
